Adam Lambert

Adam Mitchel Lambert (born January 29, 1982) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor recognized for his four-octave vocal range and flamboyant stage presence. He achieved initial fame as the runner-up on the eighth season of American Idol in 2009, captivating audiences with performances that showcased his theatrical style and vocal prowess. Lambert's debut studio album, For Your Entertainment (2009), debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and sold 198,000 copies in its first week in the United States. His sophomore album, Trespassing (2012), became the first by an openly gay male artist to reach number one on the Billboard 200. Lambert has sold over three million albums and five million singles worldwide across five studio albums. Since 2011, he has collaborated with the rock band Queen as their frontman, embarking on multiple worldwide tours under Queen + Adam Lambert, including the extensive Rhapsody Tour from 2019 to 2023, which revitalized the band's live performances following the success of the Bohemian Rhapsody biopic. Adam Lambert was born on January 29, 1982, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents Eber and Leila Lambert. His father worked as a program manager for Novatel Wireless, a telecommunications firm, and was of primarily Norwegian ancestry, while his mother was a dental hygienist with Romanian-Jewish heritage.

The family relocated to San Diego, California, shortly after his birth, settling in the Rancho Peñasquitos neighborhood where Lambert spent his childhood. He has one younger sibling, brother Neil, born in 1986. Lambert was raised in his mother's Jewish faith, which included synagogue attendance and exposure to Hebrew-language songs, though he later described a culturally observant rather than strictly orthodox household.
