Full articleBradley Scott Schneider (born August 20, 1961) is an American politician and former management consultant serving as the U.S. representative for Illinois's 10th congressional district, which includes northern Chicago suburbs and parts of Lake and Cook counties. A member of the Democratic Party, Schneider has held the seat in non-consecutive terms: from 2013 to 2015 and continuously since 2017, currently in his sixth term as of 2025. Prior to entering Congress, he earned a B.A. from the University of Colorado, an M.B.A. and J.D. from Northwestern University, and worked as a consultant focusing on operational improvements for businesses.
In Congress, Schneider serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means, influencing tax, trade, and health policy, and co-chairs bipartisan caucuses such as the Abraham Accords Caucus to advance Middle East peace initiatives. He has sponsored legislation addressing teacher leadership, Medicare protections, and manufacturing incentives, emphasizing economic growth and constituent services like resolving federal agency issues for residents. Known for a pro-business stance within his party and strong advocacy for the U.S.-Israel alliance, Schneider's record reflects efforts to bridge partisan divides on foreign policy and fiscal matters amid a polarized environment.
In brief
Brad Schneider came out of business, not a farm team of staff jobs, and beat an incumbent in the Chicago North Shore’s 10th District. The seat flipped back, then flipped again; the rematch years became local lore.
Since the second win he has made a project of the House’s large moderate caucus. The district is lakefront synagogues and corporate parks — a place that likes a member who can read a balance sheet.
