Emily Austin

Emily Austin (born May 24, 2001) is an American journalist, social media influencer, and independent NBA broadcaster. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Israeli parents, she grew up on Long Island and studied journalism at Hofstra University.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, while still a student, she began interviewing professional athletes on Instagram for her vlog Daily Vibes with Emily Austin, which led to work at MTV and hosting for Sports Illustrated at NFL and boxing events. In 2023 she launched the NBA podcast The Hoop Chat with Emily Austin, featuring players such as Josh Giddey, Grant Williams, Jalen Brunson, and Chet Holmgren. In April 2024 she began working with DAZN on boxing coverage. She has also written for Newsweek, appeared as a panelist on Fox News’s Gutfeld!, presented for PragerU, and served as a judge at Miss Universe 2022.

Austin was raised in a Modern Orthodox Jewish home. Her parents strictly keep kosher and Shabbat, and she has followed those traditions herself—keeping kosher, making Kiddush, lighting Shabbat candles, and not working on Shabbat. She has visited Israel since childhood. At 16 she took a Holocaust education trip to Poland that she has called a turning point in her life.

She has described herself as a Zionist. From 2022 to 2023 she interned at the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations as a media consultant on English-language communications and public relations. After the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel, she has been vocal against antisemitism; in December 2023 she visited southern Israeli communities affected by the attacks and documented the trip on social media.
