Walter Kent wrote the music and Buck Ram was among the lyric hands on I’ll Be Home for Christmas, a wartime wish that still plays every December. Crosby’s 1943 recording made it a standard for anyone far from a table.
Kent and Ram had other hits between them. This one is the heirloom — a Jewish contribution to a holiday they wrote for the whole country.
